Fashion is dynamic. In fact, the trend changes every season so that fashion is already recognised as one of the fast-moving human indulgence of all times. The top four fashion capitals like New York, London, Milan, and Paris are always the ones advancing in the whole fashion industry. Designers, both veterans and amateurs, develop the newest trends to spur the general public to try out a newly launched apparel style. As of 2008, the direction of the fashion industry is leaning toward digging up antiquated designs. We have seen 1940s inspired mini dresses and the swarming of Second World War military outfits. Although based on past decades’ wear, designs today are tailored to fit the lifestyle of the modern people.

For instance, the skinny jeans which were a favourite garment of the 1950s are now fashioned to flatter the urban girls. Instead of the high-waist skinny jeans that worked 50 years ago, the new skinny jeans are below waist. Another example would be the use of plaid design. Back in the 1960s and 1970s, the world was seen in plaid jackets and pants. Nowadays, the use of plaid apparel included dresses, miniskirts, tops, and of course, footwear. The military influences current fashion since consumers recognise military bravery and honour. A lot of fashion-forward individuals, both men and women, can be seen walking around the streets proudly wearing their modified Eisenhower jackets or their grandparents’ military jackets. Vintage clothing has indeed invaded the fashion industry today. It feels comforting to find out that despite advancing in the digital world, the fashion industry helps us stay grounded and reminiscent of the past.
